Politicians telling tall tales taller than tall Paul Bunyan
But nowadays I only ever get my news straight from the Onion
Buy yourself a cookie or else you're gonna cut the girl scouts fundin'
Hey, did you hear the news? Colourmusic's vinyl burned up in London
Trying to decide on my fate guess I'll just go flip a coin
Heads or tails, I'll just keep on walking through the Tenderloin
Click of a button and this song flies like magic crost the ocean
Materializes in your headphones, a teleporting motion
Everything going on at the same time,
something always leads to something,
bombs going boom boom, kids in the classroom
and everyone still bumping, bumping,
Babe, don't you be blue,
you know we're gonna pull this cart through.
If the whole wagon tips over, I won't pin it on you.
So join in the chorus, all chime in and sing a little song for us, for us, for us, for us!
Girl saw flashes on the screen, now I'm sure everyone has seen her
Just another witness in the case made against Anthony Weiner
Well, vote a good actor in for a leader and no one's the keener
He left with an hasta la vista baby off to see his housecleaner
Yea'll some so greedy, some so needy till the whole stock market crashes, Woody would tell ya (one reason I'm playing) this machine here kills fascists
So join in the chorus...
Everything going on at the same time!

Fast Food Strike!
02:51
|

7 dollars and 25 cents doesn't make much sense to survive on this
I'd go quit it and get another job but where oh where oh where?
You conquered this land, you're the burger tyrant
saying live on this, but I know I can't
even while slaving for you full-time, I can't even pay my rent
It's just too high too high too high
and I never get to own a little piece of it
It just goes down the drain, the drain
of the landlord who never even fixes it
and they tell me it's my own fault for working for you
There's many things wrong with this world o yes
and I'm no longer going to stand for it
I'm gonna stand and shout my right
come and join this strike if you do so like
they say if you don't like it,
by God, you can quit
and that's what we're doing,
we won't put up with yr shit
Everywhere I look it's class warfare
People trying to make a living in a world unfair
New York, Chicago, St. Louis, Detroit
not showing up today for you to exploit
You might think without the poor
there'd be no incentive to make more
but we just want a living wage
this minimum wage keeps us in a cage
It's just too high too high 2 hi
and I never get to own a little piece of it
it just goes down the drain the drain
work all day for no sick pay
and not a single benefit
and you tell me it's my own fault for working for you!

Songs of social injustice
It’s just us yes you and me
Just you and me and our company
And that’s what makes our country
We are living in the land of the free
I will tell you what happened to me
I went out one late dark eve
The police told us to leave
I was sitting all by myself
They said that I had to go right then
No reason I was just sitting there
Closing time was a quarter hour
This is how they abuse their power
They accused me of being drunk
I was placed under their arrest
They refused me any test
They took me to the station
There they counted my money short
I was caged in a jail cell
They made me pay them their fine
If they can’t find crime they’ll make one up
A judge won’t listen to you on your own
Playing God on his powerful throne
Any good lawyer will cost your rent
If you eat well that money’s all spent
I will make a wish with one cent
We are living in the land of the free
Take it back take it back now
Songs of social injustice
Speak to us yes you and me
I am only speaking my mind
This kind of thing happens all of the time
All we want is to find our peace
Instead of being harrassed by police
So many working for minimum wage
It keeps you locked up inside of a cage
While the big man takes the day off
Waving his smile as he plays his golf
I will tell you about my friend
Every day he works outside
One night talking in a group of friends
They strolled in and took him outside
While all the sleepers were rolling in shrugs
That’s when they planted him with drugs
He was cuffed in humility
They made him pay them their fine
If they can’t find crime they’ll make one up
Don’t forget what they’ve done to you and me
We are living in the land of the free
Land of the free yes home of the brave
I will die before I’m a slave
They are scared of each other
So they fight their sisters and brothers
Everywhere I go I’m asked for my ID
Take a good look and believe that it’s me

Bomb Me Blues

|
|||
Bomb!
You bomb me, I'll bomb you
And we'll all bomb a bomb a bomb
Best be in a brighter state of mind
read the sign
Problem in mind
Well, I've got this problem of mine
It's not dyin'
But to live in a world unkind
I don't even know, you know, you don't know
I've got the bomb me blues
I've even lost my loose screws
I've got the bomb blew me up blues...
Oh, they pull it on you, and everyone, too
What's the news? It's bomb me blues!
We lose
when we get blown up out of our shoes
Oh human made death angry god~
I've got the bomb me blues
They all have lost their loose screws
I've got the bomb blew me up blues
Oh, so confused, they light the fuse
It is a way to end everything
It is a way to end it
And it can come for you
Yes, it could.
It wouldn't be too good now
It can come for you
When you dropped it
What were you on?
Oh, maybe, Timmy was on the bomb
Look out- Timmy came down with the bomb
And I've got the bomb me blues
We all have lost our loose screws
I've got the clue me in blues
I've got the do me in blues
We all have lost all of our last few loose screws
And I've got the bomb blew me up blues!
The bomb blew me blues

A knife cut down
And took the life of Kenneth Bigley
His message was broadcast on the TV
He was kidnapped on the 16th of September
Along with more innocents to remember
The brutal captors laid forth their harsh demand
To the attention of the British command
The world watched stunned, they rallied for his case
The world looked upon the hostage’s face
The news spread truth though there’s bound to be rumors
There’s different stories concerning all of the prisoners
Kenneth Bigley, it is told was a civil engineer
Rebuilding a country torn by hate and fear
The world heard his plea for them to listen
For all the women to be freed from the prison
His image was captured on a videotape
It was reported that he came close to escape
He calmly said: “I am just a simple man
Who wants a simple life, I beg you…” Understand…
While the bombs dropped, while the guns crawled on their hunts
“I’m not afraid,” he said, “You only die once.”
The missiles shrieked too loud to be heard through a war
Like John the Baptist he was beheaded over what he stood for
Whoever’s right, whoever may be wrong
Will do what you will, will say your belief
No matter still, however you may see it
How you look at it, whoever’s side you’re on
You can be certain, yes, you surely can agree
There was a hero once named Kenneth Bigley

Breadwinner
03:11
|
|||
If you want to have a fancy career
there's only so much to go around
only so much to go around
only so much to go around
keep it in mind when you're out on the town
and you see somebody else down
Who's the breadwinner?
Who's going to put your dinner on the table?
Who is willing and able?
Who's going to cook your meal tonight?
Who's bringing home the bacon?
We're making this all too complicated
Through all kinds of weather
We'll do our laundry together
If you want to feed the whole world
I'm sure there's plenty bread
but the other bread, instead, you know
I'm not sure why, but, there's only so much to go around
only so much to go around
only so much to go around
Keep it in mind when you're out on the town
and you see your brother down
Who's the breadwinner?
Who's going to put your dinner on the table?
Who is willing and able?
Who's going to cook your meal tonight?
Who's bringing home the bacon?
We're making this all too complicated
If you're worried about your role
it's now how the world will rock and roll
Who's the breadwinner?
Who's going to put your dinner on the table?
Who is willing and able?
Who's going to cook your meal tonight?
Who's bringing home the bacon?
We're making this all too complicated
Through all kinds of weather
We'll do our laundry together

HelpX Song

I want a holiday where I won't have to pay
I'll just go far away
and go stay and play
and go work on the farm
and go paint the barn
I'll go pick wild berries
and sample the dairies
I want free room and board
where I'll never get bored
I'll just swat the flies
and make blackberry pies
and go eat all the fruit
and not spend any loot
and then I'll chop the log
and go fetch the dog
I'll go feed the pigs
and go coast on the bikes
and take hikes round the lake
and go stroll around the forest
and bake a cake for us
for goodness sake
I'll go backpackin'
and go kayakin'
and go hunt for the eggs
and eat chicken legs
Now we're living on the range
found it on Help Exchange
I'll grab the fallen apples
from the old apple tree
and go flying down the hill
going whoo and whee
i'll pull up a lettuce head
to make sure we're well fed
with something good to eat
and the beets are all red (or "the Beats are all read")
We'll have dinner outside
while drinking hard cider
telling jokes and ghost stories
to make your eyes wider
i'll go take some coffee down from the shelf
and mix it with cream that I milked myself
We'll have a bowl of borscht,
after the dishes are warshed
I'll go play my guitar out on the patio
You'll be snapping yr fingers
like you're some daddy-o
3rd verse~ same as 1st verse except "damson berries" instead of "wild berries"

I Have The Hope
04:39
|
|||
Well, I have the hope
that right about now you will legalize dope
'cause there's too many people locked up in jail
I'm not saying you should use
I'm only saying you have a right to choose
without having to pay for some made-up dues
Yeah, I've smoked it myself
and any law that's pertaining to health
should not empty the pockets of the commonwealth
Oh, give me the key
to unlock the merchants
who are persecuted
locked up and looted
I'm not saying I condone
always going and getting stoned
but it really isn't my place or say anyway
Yeah, I have the hope
that right about now you will legalize dope
'cause there's too many people rotting in jail
We're in the land of the free
home of the brave
so if we're really free
Light up and see! yeah
Why are you sending the cops
when right round the corner you give them head shops?
Then you go out and bust someone for paraphernalia...
Why is it illegal
when it's just as natural as a bald eagle?
Really doesn't make any sense, I'll tell ya

(In Observance of World Naked Bike Ride)
Let's ride a bike naked through the streets
Wear anything you like, preferably nothing
Let's ride a bike naked through Portland
This is like a strike, we're saying something important
More like a streak to protest oil dependency
They drive everywhere, yeah, the cities have the tendency
Or ride a uni-bike or ride on a skateboard
or anything random, yes, we'll go riding in tandem
"Bare as you dare" but maybe you should wear some underwear
if you are borrowing my bike! but you can ride it if you like
I like oil, but we are so spoiled
I like oil, but the land is so spoiled
I like oil, but we are so spoiled!
So let's ride a bike naked through the streets..!

Sitting on a stool
Cause I took a nap
Now I’m wearing a dunce cap
And I don’t know why I’m going to school
I stayed up all night
Worried to death
I was all out of breath
I was listening to my parents fight
Checkmarks by my name
On the chalkboard
If I get one more
Ah, I really don’t know why I came
I am called a brat
The kids tease me
I just can’t please them, see
I don’t like being called that
I paid attention
But I chewed some gum
So they checked another one
And now I have a detention
ISD
In School Detention, see
They are calling me a failure
Before they’ve seen my highest deed
Make me stay some more
Where I don’t want to be
Where I’m never, ever free
And I think I’m gonna start a war
Give me busy work
And waste all of my time
And tell me to be quiet
And your kind of teaching don’t work
I feel like a fool
Sitting on your stool
Sitting in your school
So I’m going to break your rule
I could get a gun
A deadly one
It’s the latest fashion
While drooling my tongue
I could shoot you while you run
And then shoot myself
So it’s too late for help
With a detention
But that doesn’t need to be done
Cause I will hitch a ride
I’ll leave town on my bike
I will leave tonight
And just hope that the Lord will provide
So it’s funny
When I think about how
They’re the ones who wanted to be
All the ones with the glory
By putting me down
And making me feel
Like a tramp in their town
Pretty soon they will see
That it’s everyone who’ll hear about me

Communism with a Capitalist "C"
See how many you can control
with your soul-sucking patrol
blaming petroleum for your disease
All the while I was begging on my knees
Totalitarian, your time is nearly done
They've come to topple you with freedom
Your power is fake, you only control
who is fooled, you own no soul
Idiot ideology, separating society
God, why must there be more than one religion?
outlawing love by denomination...
My God is God of All, All is One

Starving Artists
04:14
|
|||
Throw throw throw
a tomato oh oh
at the people on the stage and they will go go go go
go and eat it with all their heart heart heart heart
Making mistakes turn into art art art art
You threw it, he threw it, she threw it
You threw it, he threw it, she threw it
You threw it, I threw it, he threw it, she threw it
through it through it through it, blew it blew it blew it!
Starving artists work the hardest
Starving artists work their heart out
Starving artists work the hardest
trying to make the old new
and beautiful
in a world of doubt
Talk talk talk down on me me me me
I'll talk back to you and we will see see see see
but what good is that gonna do do do do
for all of the people of the future??
I'll bet that you do have an artist in you
At whatever it is you are
I'll bet you are an artist, too
Starving artists work the hardest
Starving artists work their heart out
Starving artists work the hardest
trying to make the old new
turn beautiful
in a world of doubt
